An idea a day... #2

LEDGES... narrow wall shelves
These are photos from my daughter Wendy's (the bride-to-be) house in Phoenix.
Her decorating is such FUN... with FUN colors.
But I was really fascinated with the narrow ledges she had in almost every room.
She ordered them from http://www.exposuresonline.com/ but they could easily be handmade.
Wendy's shelves are a variety of colors, sizes, and styles.
This shelf currently showcases her snowman collection and a snowman picture for height.
She put up her decorations while we were there and it was such fun anticipating what she'd unwrap from the box next. She'd collected them in her travels and some from her mom... ME!
Another clever use of a ledge was in the guest room.
She had photos enlarged and matted in colors to coordinate with the room colors.
I can't wait to 'lift' this idea after the holidays.
Here is a picture of her guest room. You can see how nice the colored mats look in this colorful room and help to tie the room together.

A bit of Trivia...
That was my bed and dresser growing up.
I slept on it.
My dad slept on it when he was in heart failure.
My mom slept on it when she moved to be nearer the girls and I.
I slept on it again after my divorce.
Wendy now has it in her guest room.

It's cherry wood and sturdy and will have an interesting history.

Love to you all,

It looks so lovely and I'm sure you had a grand time helping her. I love thing is a home that have family history to them; so the bed isn't only a great piece of furniture, it's a lovely family memory piece.

Very cool. I have lots of prints & pics to frame, so I'll have to keep the colored mats in mind.

I love these ledges. My dad's a woodworker. I'm bringing him to your site--I want some!!

Oh, and yes, I met Angie. I e-mailed her this morning. She's about an hour from me. It caught me by surprise, too.

And yes. . . I know God loves me. I guess I was just amazed (again) at his GRACE. We receive so much more from HIM than we deserve. He's so good!

Oy, I'm still at church, and it's nearly 9 p.m. I fully intend to go home, get my jammies on, and do some Christmas present preparation.

Pray for me. . .the kids' musical is tomorrow night. Sigh.
