I am SEW crazy!

After a weekend of wedding celebrations, we decided to head home instead of going on to Minneapolis. My husband got off the highway and pulled in front of this quilt store. He'd found it on the Internet and surprised me. Such a sweet man!! It's a new shop... grand opening next weekend. It's in a small Wisconsin town about 15 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. It's called Sew Little Time and I almost hyperventilated when I walked in the door. Oh my goodness!!! There was soooo much and it was all displayed so invitingly. I didn't know where to go first.
I just started a pile on the counter and kept adding to it. And it grew... and grew... and grew like Jack's beanstalk.

"You wouldn't have any fabric by Kaffe Fassett?" Oh yes! Just about every pattern he has designed. I was dying for his fabric, but had placed an online order for 'a bunch' last week and couldn't remember what I'd ordered. But, to see it in person, and touch it... I just bought more. I played with it in the car during our 4 hour drive home from the shop and put together the color combinations for a quilted bag and other projects. I also bought books and patterns and Timtex and toys. What a fun week this is going to be.

In the shop bathroom (someday I'm going to do a post about 'bathrooms around the world'... have had some wild experiences), the wall was a deep green and covered with quilt booklets and patterns. etc. framed in clear Lucite frames. My photo colors are really off, but it was such an attractive display. I had a friend that did the same thing in her kitchen with cooking magazine covers. Neat idea.
The shop will have an online store... http://www.atimetosew.com/. Check it for the latest!
Dinner time... tomorrow we start much-needed Weight Watchers.

Your husband is worth his weight in gold! What a lovely gesture. Mine always says when we go on a trip, ‘Please, no quilt shops...’. I will have him read your blog! Enjoy everything you bought and I‘m curious what you’re going to make. Good Luck at the WW!

Hi you e-mailed me. No I havent seen any other people from the area. Nice blog though. I am sorry you couldnt get into mine. I dont have any special settings on it and its public so I dont know whats up. Try again and I will ask a friend of mine to help me. She set up the blog for me in the first place.

That sounds WONDERFUL. Mark is good about taking me to stores like that. . . but it's been AGES since I've been in a good quilt store.

{I'm jealous}

My boyfriend lets me have his wallet when *I* go into a quilting store ALONE but to actually surprise you with a visit to one? Speechless.
Isn't adding to the pile of stuff on the counter the best fun!

Thank you for the wonderful things you said about our quilt shop.It has been a labor of love for my wife and I. I hope you enjoyed your shopping experience and we encourage you to stop by again, when you are in the area.
As for your husband, you can tell him I have lost count of all the quilt shops I have been to. But, to be fair, I'm sure my wife has lost count of all the Rock shops, Camera stores, and Outdoor shops she has accompanied me to. Marriage is a series of compromises, and if a Quilt shop makes her happy, then we are all happy. Owning one just makes it all that much more fun for her.
(I'm secretly glad we do, her"stash" was taking over the house.)
So you can tell your husband , "The coffee is always on", and I'll always try to keep a few non-quilting magazines in the Husband's seating area, the next time you both drop by. Thanks again, A Quilters Husband.

I finally went and checked out the quilt shop...it is fabulous! Unfortunately, or fortunately for my check book, I am on a fabric buying ban...so I just looked at all the beautiful samples that they had displayed. They had so much to look at! I was giddy. Thanks for the great tip...so glad that it is in my backyard!
