2008... in with a CRASH!!

New Year's Day started with lime yogurt (my favorite), a cup of tea, and a long phone chat with an old friend. A great beginning to a new year.
And then I stood up, caught my toe on the edge of the rug, and sailed into this antique cabinet where we store our DVDs.
The glass cut the palm of my hand open and one other deep cut on my arm.
The rest of the cuts were just little pieces of glass embedded in my hand.
It could have been so much worse.

The bad part is that it was my right hand and I'm right-handed.
Stitches across your palm don't allow for a lot of use of that hand.
Sooooo... I probably won't blog until I get the bandages off.
Typing with one finger on your left hand takes forever.
But, then again... you never know.

My word for this year is "POSITIVE"!!
My goal is to find something positive in everything that happens.
It's a 365 day challenge for me.
I'm hoping that maybe it will become a habit after a year.

This accident is providing me with a lot of time to read and to rest.

Back to bed with a book.

Hugs to you all!
~Joni

Oh Joni, how awful. I'm so sorry to hear it. One Christmas day a few years back, I was slicing rolls for ham sandwiches and sliced my hand holding the roll in the process. Not fun. I hope you heal fast and am happy you have put a positive spin on it!

I am so sorry!!! I hope you recover very soon.

I'll be thinking about (and praying for) you!

I keep needing to ask you to send me a list of top five book recommendations. I want to do more reading this year. You've inspired me! : )

Joni, I am SO glad you weren't more badly hurt! I'm sure you will be lovingly nursed and some forced relaxation needn't be a bad thing, huh?
Heal well!

Oh Joni! Your poor thing...what a fright you must have got. All those stitches....big hugs to Grammy J! You rest in bed and get all better and we look forward to seeing you real soon. You have already shown how to make a positive out of a negative. You are an inspiration.

Oh my goodness, what a way to begin your new year!!! I'm so sorry, but you get to experience your new positive thinking right away. A book, bed....not too bad. I'd say that's a positive. Hope you heal quickly, and your bookcase can be fixed.

Gasp! Oh Joni, I hope you're healing quickly! We'll have to send you some of Junie Moon's bandages for your hand! And, I'm sure there's a joke in here somewhere about how much you had to drink for the new year -- hope you're feeling well enough to laugh about it now! Enjoy your little forced break -- we'll be thinking/worrying about you! XOXO!

Yikes! That sounds like something I'd do! I fell and wrenched my ankle a month before Christmas in 2005 and couldn't drive or walk until February. Talk about learning patience the hard way! For me it was a reminder to slow down. Hope you're up and about soon. I liked your note about the cookie cutters btw--great idea!
Well dear lady, I do wish you a most speedy recovery and a sweet 2008.

Hey there,

Thanks for the list of books. I'll have Mark "mooch" them for me. Have you ever heard of Book mooch? It's a cool way to exchange books.

Anyway, I'm getting ready for my company tonight.

Crazy times.

I have NO idea what layout I used for my blog, because my friend, Melany, does it for me. I'll find out from her, and let you know.

Hope you're recovering quickly. I've been meaning to tell you that I'm back on the WW bandwagon. Lots of fruits & veggies. Even tried making a smoothie yesterday morning. It was. . . . .okay, I guess.

HUGS from Tennessee!!

Hi Joni, Happy New Year and good to see you're keeping positive already. The accident sounds nasty but I hope you'll enjoy reading while you recover. I've been out of touch for a couple of months but am looking forward to catching up on all that's been going on. Take care of yourself!
