Stockings, stockings, and more stockings!!
As soon as my calender is flipped to November 1st, I start making lists of things I need to do and make in preparation for Christmas.
Christmas begins at our house on December 5th Eve when St. Nicholas comes to fill stockings that hang from the fireplace mantel.
(If you don't have a mantel, use a door knob... be creative)
So now is the time I think about those stockings. Should we continue to use the stockings that we've had since the girls were born? Or pass them on to them and have new stockings this year?
Should I make them or buy them?
As I was looking through catalogs, that arrive in stacks each day at this time of the year, I found the oodles of pictures of soooooo many varieties.
Here are a few of those pictures that I'm posting for inspiration if you're a sewer, knitter, or glue-user.
And if you're a shopper, they are all from...
How creative and interesting to hang stockings from an old ski.
I hope you enjoyed the 'eye candy', got inspired to create a stocking, shop for a special one, or dig through the Christmas stash to bring out the
memory socks.
Let's share traditions from our families and our countries as we approach these holidays.
It's such fun to learn how others celebrate.
xoxo, Joni

I got those catalogs too Joni, and I've been having the same debate. I'm kind of tired of the old stockings and would like some stunning ones like the ones in the pictures. It will be fun to see what you do.
i'm drooling over all the new xmas catalogs. did you see the advent house in the pbkids? i thought of you...

Looks like a good reason to get the embroidery machine going again! They're lovely. I think we need to see the 'old' ones so we can decide whether you need to make or buy more. Love the coat hooks as well.
I am, however, a bit worried about your house on Christmas Eve. Having had your stocking filled already on the 5th, do you hang them up again for Santa? Or do you have sacks??!! xx
Beautiful stockings! Lots of inspiration just looking at the photos. Nov. first already, gotta get busy! LOL! Can't wait to see what you make! Happy weekend to you ((HUGS))
I always like the idea of making stockings but then I remember how much fun it is to have to pull really hard to get the presents out of my dad's socks! A proper stocking would make it too easy and take away that element of guesswork as you feel the lumpity-bumpity sock on the end of your bed! (And yes, the grown-ups do still get a sock for christmas! - my favourite bit!) Lucy x
Lovely! I really like the idea of having them hang on the wall. Ours normally hang on the stair railing.
Hee. . . we used to hang Edison's stocking on the hinge in our french doors (not used in the winter time). Now, with Caroline, we need hooks.
I've got that new, fun coat tree in the entry way. I'll probably use it! : )

Thanks for the beautiful eye candy Joni, It's getting me thinking. I don't have a mantel but I do have a hutch with 4 handles.....
I could do a stocking for each handle.....
The stockings are all so gorgeous! My husband told about all the Christmas fun in America! We don’t have Christmas Catalogues.
OH these are fabulous Joni! Thank you so much for your continued education and inspiration. I will be sure to take pics for you....come December 1. That is our big set up day :) Have a great weekend.
Oh what a lovey array of stockings! How can you decide which is the best, they are all wonderful. I can't believe how boring I am, I hang the same ones every year. Of course they are cute...but now I guess I gotta start on some new ones.
Love the black metal hook thing for hanging stockings! I cannot put our stockings on our fireplace as dh likes to burn those fires hot lol... I think I will go out looking for a hook thing like that!
Thanks for the idea :O)
nice catalogs !
Kind regards,
Sonnja, from the Netherlands
Stockings all look lovely - wish we had a pottery barn over here in England. They have some great things on their website.
