Not for advanced quilters!

I finished this bag today... finally!!
I'm learning with each project I attempt and I keep trying new-to-me techniques.
This was an easy to make no pattern bag... just lots of squares and rectangles.
It's lined with a coordinating fabric and has inner pockets.
This was my first attempt at lowering those 'feed dogs' and trying free-motion quilting.
I just jumped in and did a circular design (resembling a beanstalk) down the center of each fabric strip.
They are very abstract, but I'm happy with the total effect.
I'm anxious to make a Christmas bag now. I sketched it and can't wait to cut the fabric tomorrow so I can play with 'free-motion' again.

I'm always more interested in the process rather than the product.
And this was fun!!

Make it a good day...

Oooh Joni - I am thrilled you're getting the free motion bug! I warn you though, the first place I did it was quilting, and it goes downhill from here! (Or uphill, depends on your outlook!) I stopped doing the old patchwork, and just went for the free-motion! Having said that, I was in the quilt shop this morning buying pretend Japanese fabric, which is luverley! Fab bag, by the way. Still planning what I'm going to do! xx

The quilting looks great Joni! I'm too scared and haven't tried free-motion yet so I will have to pluck up the courage soon! Lucy x

Free (e)motion! I love it! I have a free motion foot for my sewing machine, must try if it works for me!
Wonderful bag and the red and green teatowels and kitchen stuff looks great!

Great job Joni! You are indeed a very brave girl! The books you've ordered look yummy too -- I just ordered Joelle's book last night myself. Not sure why -- I think I was just intrigued by the color wheel quilt. I'll probably never make it, but you never know LOL.

I LOVE the bag!!! Your feeling for using colours is so wonderful and it makes your blog like "candy for the eyes"! I never tried free motion quilting, but I like to try it sometime.
