Thoughts as I look at this Photo...

(Day #17 from my December Daily album)

Yes, that's me 'in all my glory'.
But, I don't mind wearing elf hats, Santa hats, or reindeer antlers in December.
Yes, I hate having my picture taken.
But, I do want to document this moment at Christmastime, 2010.
Yes, I loved that I was about to do a Story time for 4&5 year olds.
But, I can't show you the photo of the Story time because of a parent request.

My friend Jerry and I are taking his Grandchildren to Story time tomorrow at an adorable book store. I will take photos and share them with you as the store is sooooooo cute and mainly children's books. I'll make certain that I shoot from the backs of their heads... or crop them out!!

Here's something you don't know about me... I wrote my Master's Thesis on "The Benefits of Integrating ORAL Storytelling into the Classroom Reading Program". My mom was a great oral storyteller and the mental images that I created in my head have bridged the gap of time.

Make this a great weekend!
Tell someone a story!!

It's a really lovely photo, Joni. You should be very happy with it. Have fun at story hour. Reading aloud to my class was usually one of the best parts of my day!

I love this photo :) Your description of the book shop reminds me of the little bookshop in You've got Mail. Can't wait to see some photos. Have a great weekend :) xx

The thing I miss most about teaching since my retirement is reading aloud to my second-graders! What a great excuse it was to be a little "hammy"! Great photo, BTW!

You look so cute Joni! I LOVE children's bookstores -- especially when they can survive being beaten up by the big chains!

I love this post - reading, both aloud and to ourselves, is a big part of our household. My parents both think if I were to go back for more schooling I should work towards being a school librarian.
And that's a great picture of you! (and I too hate having my picture taken - which makes it hard to be friends with people like Kristin and Wendy who both always look adorable in photos)

I love that you do this! What a wonderful gift to those kids. Great story hours rule and the expression on your face shows how great you make it!
